The Lifestyle Junior Golf Tour strives to create a competitive environment, building character and sportsmanship in all its participants. Our tour includes boys and girls ages 8-19 from Northern Indiana and Southwest Michigan. We welcome all players from any State in the Union
We strive to play the finest private and public facilities in our region. We also want each player to feel like they are playing in the Masters or US Open each week.
Our year long points race in each age group is much like the Fed Ex Cup points race on the PGA Tour
Targeting these courses and running top notch tournaments ensures growth in the game overall.
Currently the tournament schedule features seven summer events followed by a Tournament of Champions for all age group winners. The season ends with the Cup Match, a Ryder Cup-style, 12-on-12 match against another Junior Tour yet to be announced.
The Winning team keep's the Cup for one year and hold's bragging rights until the next Match.
Now at 250 plus members, the tour is expected to reach 275 -300 players in 2019 with the support from (Dan Whitney Owner of Lifestyle), John Fischer Tour Director & PGA Professional, and the entire Lifestyle Team.
The Lifestyle Junior Golf Tour Director, John Fischer PGA Professional
John has been a PGA Golf Professional for 30 years and is currently the Head Professional at South Bend Country Club. He has managed private country clubs in Michigan and Indiana. John's passion for teaching and growing the game through solid instruction and hosting and managing many large club tournaments and company golf outings. John has owned and operated high retail golf shops throughout his PGA career at several clubs in the two state area.
John's proudest accomplishment as a PGA Professional has been to take over a struggling junior golf tour in Elkhart County. This tour in 2012 had dropped to 30 juniors and out of those there were only 3 girls competing throughout the summer. With many changes of venues, and what John feels was a genuine interest in each and every one of the players games. He had faith that they all were going to get better each and every year, by leading them in the right direction through instruction, fitting proper equipment or just encouragement. John enjoys listening to each player on what is important to them in their lives besides golf.. John is proud to say that after 8 years of what he calls making each kid feel like they are playing in the Master's, the tour has grown to over 250 kids in 2018 and most importantly 100 plus girls.
John coaches the JV & Varsity girls of St. Joseph High School in South Bend, Indiana. 22 girls made the team in 2016. This was the largest girls team in the Northern Indiana region. Build It was his motto and as John tells all his players and students that he will give you the Tools but you have to Build the House. In 2018 the Saint Joe Girls made it to the Indiana State Golf Championship
John was on the committee which helped bring the First Tee to Elkhart County in 2017. They now teach golf in the curriculum in 70 plus schools in Michiana. This program is offered in grades Kindergarten - 5th.
Gabby Shipley and her sister Sara were two of John's students when he lived in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Gabby and Sara worked with John from middle school through their High school careers. Gabby in 2016 won the NCAA Division 2 National Women's Golf Collegiate Championship in Colorado. Gabby played 4 years for Grand Valley State. Sara had her own success as a junior golfer and is now a freshman at the University of Kentucky on a full golf scholarship. John tears up when talking about these sisters who were just little girls when we started the process.
John Fischer Biography
John's student Satchel Pierce qualified for the National Drive - Chip & Putt competition in 2013 held at Augusta National during Masters week. Satchel finished 2nd in his age group and won the Driving portion of this National event. Satchel has gone on to be the two time Indiana Junior player of year in 2013 & 2015.
John also has on his resume the 2015 & 2016 Indiana Women's State Amateur Champion as one of his students. Anna Wilcoxin played on a golf scholarship at Western Michigan University and is pursuing her LPGA tour card. Anna is a St Joseph High School graduate from South Bend, Indiana. Anna's work ethic is second to none and she will accomplish many things in her life.
John is working with many of the best young Middle School and High School Boy and Girl players in Michiana. He loves watching the growth of all his players from year to year and whether they play competitively after their youth career's or just play for the love of the game, John talks about the friendships that were forged with all his players. No matter what success they did or did not have on the links. He will remember their friendships longer than their golf swings.
John's son Brody is currently pursuing his dream of playing on the PGA Tour. Brody is practicing and playing in Palm Beach Gardens Florida in the winter and South Bend Country Club in the summer. Brody soon will be off to Monday qualify weekly across the country on the Web. Com Tour and PGA Tour . John loves to take a player when they are raw and mold them like a piece of clay. Slowly molding them into a Champion over time.
John's goal with the Lifestyle Junior Golf Tour is to take the model we have created and grow it in the communities like ours throughout the country where the Lifestyle Brand is represented.
